Has anyone seen this website http://www.catstorrevieja.com They are trying to find homes for these poor cats, abandoned when their human mum died. Then some rotten sod has added to them by dumping another kitten in with them. Please if you have room for a cat or a kitten, get in touch and offer a home. These are not feral cats - they are all domesticated, well loved cats. The fact that they are being fed and watered does not detract from the sad fact that they have no shelter from the biting wind and rain and no one to cuddle them up and make a fuss of them. Two have already been killed because they were sheltering under parked cars for a bit of warmth and shelter. There are still six, please can anyone offer them a home?

Thank you for posting that. I remember reading about these cats some time ago. It's really sad. Unfortunately I'm not in a position to take any more on.
I really do hope someone comes forward to take at least one of these poor cats.

We adopted one of these cats just after the article in the Coast Rider. He is about five or six, a beautiful big boy. We worried first about introducing him to our existing cat and dog, but we need not have worried as he was so used to living with a large family group. He quietly demured to our female cat and tried to cuddle up to our dog in her bed! The dog was a little surprised, but now accepts him. Our original cat ignores him in that superior way that only a cat can! If you have room in your heart, please help them. They are all so beautiful and affecionate.

Am thinking about giving a home to the deaf cat that comes from this group. My only concern is trying to keep her in when the other cat I have uses a cat flap....any suggestions or advice or experiences with deaf cats greatly received!

My husband thinks it cruel to keep the cat in, I wondered about a lead so it could have some freedom but he is not convinced. I do agree with him that the road is a dangerous place for deaf cats but would like to have tried.....at the moment it looks like I wont be taking the cat on which is such a shame......

We had a deaf white cat for a couple of years before her brother threw her out and she went missing and was never found again. She was very sweet. One advantage of her condition was that she wasn´t spooked by noise. I used to take her on a lead to meet my son from school. Another time she went with us to a fireworks party. She liked Kung Fu films and would try to fight the characters on TV. She seemed to have an advanced sense of sight to make up. She also liked playing the piano at length. Most cats get off frightened by the noise they are making. Deaf cats can be very rewarding but should be kept in. We thought ours was safe on our roof which has access to other roofs but it seems her brother who bullied her all the time threw her off into the street.

Thanks for all the feedback I think I am going to be able to talk my husband round Even if we take the cat and see how she gets on, she deserves a chance I think..... I can understand why he is worried as we have lost 3 cats on the road but everyone keeps saying they stay close to home?

My friend has a deaf cat. She "inherited" him when his previous owners moved on without him. She lives in a quietish urb and the cat spends more time out than in. Her only problem was when he didn't come home once - she couldn't call him so had to search everywhere looking for him. He was eventually found a few doors away with a broken leg, now all fixed up OK. You'll have to find a way to keep any new cat in for a week or two anyway. After that, with a deaf cat, I'd only let him out for a while under supervision (as far as is possible ). From then, when you're sure the cat knows where home is, you just have to take a chance.

Our Amazon was dumped by an ex-pat with the rest of the litter. We had adopted her brother previously. Amazon and the other two walked back to the ex-pat´s ex-home from wherever she had been dumped. We took her in and took the other two to APAH. So a deaf cat can survive a long walk. Wish we had not let her out except on a lead thereafter though as she was lost eventually as stated above. My advice would be to make her a house cat only as they can´t hear traffic coming. She may well be good on a lead and less nervous than a hearing cat.

Agree with what you say about keeping her in as much as possible I will only let her out when I am around and will keep her in until she is used to us and the other pets.... Also will try a lead as well.... I believe she is a very docile cat so I am sure everything will be fine Going to see her tomorrow thanks to everyone for messages

We have just been to pick up the white cat, she is beautiful and of course we are going to keep her! Think we are going to call her Crystal (even though she won't hear her name bless her) Will get my husband to send photo as I am not very IT minded - will keep you updated on her progress..... They still have another 5 cats to rehome so if anyone wants one please contact them
