The food in Torrevieja is varied with an excellent choice of International cuisines including Italian, French, German, Chinese, Indian, Korean, Scandinavian, Serbian, Croatian, Mexican, etc. in a number of specialised restaurants.
The typical Torrevieja Speciality is the "Caldero", which consists of different fish types, rice and the juice of the fish, this you can eat almost anywhere in town.
Other typical sea flavour dishes are rice with fresh anchovy, cooked codfish, red bream, mackerel, ray and other fish, which are prepared in there are own special way in various restaurants.

Massive Dissappointment. Several People Had Spoken Well Of It. We Thought The Menu Was Limited And All The Food Was Served Luke Warm. Very Friendly And Attentive Staff. I Would Have Loved To Have Given Them A Positive Report. Good Kingfisher Beer Though !!!

Im sorry you had a bad meal hear. I went 5 times out of 13 evenings and loved the place. Very good value form money 3 courses + wine for 2 people at 35 Euros or less.Staff very friendly (gave us a free drink the last evening).

On the coast road between Torrevieja and La Mata (Bus route Linea A) - Look out for a building with a large 'Torre Tay' sign (can't miss it), the restaurant is at one corner of this building. We've eaten there several times and would certainly go there again. The chef is Belgian (Christian Lehane) and the walls are plastered with (well earned) diplomas and citations. 3 courses for 3 people including 2 bottles of reasonable wine = 106€ (about £70). Excellent value.

- Menu:La Herradura Restaurant is located in a historic Old Farmhouse has an interesting history dating back to was it was first built in 1888, for instance in 1920, when the was a train line built connecting Vega Baja with Alicante top politicians from all over the country converged on the area for the inauguration of the new line. Unfortunately the train was derailed leaving the politicians stranded for two days. The took refuge in La Herradura where soon changed from a farmahouse to an inn. The restaurant´s wine cellar dating back to the 19th century is just one of the many features of the restaurant. Parking isn´t a problem either with space for over 200 cars.
