The food in Torrevieja is varied with an excellent choice of International cuisines including Italian, French, German, Chinese, Indian, Korean, Scandinavian, Serbian, Croatian, Mexican, etc. in a number of specialised restaurants.
The typical Torrevieja Speciality is the "Caldero", which consists of different fish types, rice and the juice of the fish, this you can eat almost anywhere in town.
Other typical sea flavour dishes are rice with fresh anchovy, cooked codfish, red bream, mackerel, ray and other fish, which are prepared in there are own special way in various restaurants.
There are also many specialised restaurants that represent the kitchen of the different Spanish regions.

Shivum offers both vegetarian & non-vegetarian authentic Indian cuisine. Shivum offers both eat-in & takeaway restaurant. Takeaway customers are offered a complimentary bottle of red or white wine on orders over 15 Euros. Shivum is a fully air-conditioned restaurant. Shivum offers a very relaxing atmosphere, upon arriving, you are greeted with a warm welcome. Shivum employs both fluent English & Spanish waiting & bar staff. Shivums menu offers authentic Indian cuisine at a reasonable price. Honestly, this is the best Indian restaurant cuisine that I have dined from outside India.

The Thali at 8.50 Euros consisted of 6/7 different dishes (served on a tray) all delicious and included a dessert (Indian) and coffee. Terrific value - as confirmed meat eaters we finished our meal completely full and satisfied. Didn't miss the meat at all! Only 4 or 5 inside tables and a couple outside - gets very busy. There is also a full Vegetarian al la carte menu.rnAdded bonus you can also buy all those Indian ingredients that cost a fortune in the English franchises!!rnTry it and you'll go back again and again.

Stefans team of chef's are mostly trained by himself. Try the House Red - pretty good stuff. The Food is delicious and all homemade. They have Ostrich and Venison on the Menu. They have a menu del dia to give it a try during the day which I get emailed to me every week.

We visited The Hatch in the week following its opening, and were welcomed by the Owners Sonny & Tracey. We were immediately impressed by the decor and atmosphere. We arrived a little after 7.30 and already there were parties seated and enjoying their meals. As the evening progressed the Restaurant filled up and became busy but we were never pressured to vacate our table. The menu is varied and contains a childrens section, prices are reasonable and the presentation is superb (comparable with first class restaurants anywhere!) We chose Garlic Bread with Cheese, followed by Smothered Chicken and finished with Profiteroles and Coffee. In addition all main meals include a visit/or visits to the Salad Bar. The salad selection was excellent and included a good selection of dressings.rnThe cost of our meals including drinks, 3 courses and coffee worked out at about 23 Euros a head (with tip) We had had an extremely good night out too at what felt like a 'grown up Restaurant'rnIf you want to 'go out' to Dinner - try The Hatch, you won't be disappointed. Best to book if you want to make up a party, and once we get into the season I suspect booking will become essential!

Having owned a holiday property in Los Leandros La Mata for several years we were extremely pleased and most impressed when Dave and Kathy opened the doors of "The Lemon Tree" it was exactly what the area was missing. Always the friendliest of welcomes from Kathy at the front of house making sure everyone feels relaxed and has an excellent knowledge of their wines (although we always tend to go for the House White as it tastes superb) Excellent cuisine of the highest standard all prepared with the freshest of ingredients by a quality Chef David. who wouldn't go a miss in a top quality London restaurant plates always returned empty, we are always pleased to take friends who come to stay and always the same reaction is given "Fantastic". All we can say is go and try for yourselves you won't be disappointed. Bon Appétit. PS Try the Strawberry Shortbread mmmmmmmmmm.

If you are looking for a warm welcome and excellent food in the La Mata area, you need look no further than The Lemon Tree, owned by Kathie & David. They offer a varied menu, including daily specials, all made with fresh local produce. They have an excellent selection of wines, which Kathie is only too happy to recommend to accompany your choice of food. Service throughout the whole dining experience is warm & friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed, with staff always attentive and doing their utmost to make you feel at home. Both Kathie & David know the area very well and are more than happy to stop and chat and recommend places to go and things to see in the surrounding area. If you have a sweet tooth, David’s home made deserts are out of this world, with the cheesecake being our personal favourite. The perfect end to an outstanding meal is the Belmonte coffee, which I will leave the reader to discover for themselves.
